Inspiration
Last night, I was fortunate enough to be amongst 18 dynamic women-artists who were selected to receive the Leeway Foundation Art and Change Grant, myself included. Being in their presence was so liberating, inspiring, and just overall awesome. I was able to share my project, Raising Hasana, blog to come, where I interview parents raising African American children with ADHD and compile that information book and that my fellow grantees were very interested in the project. It also made me realize that I'd better start interviewing and writing!

Private School
My eight year old has been diagnosed with an attention challenge (I don't like the word disorder) and unlike many of the friends I have, I decided to use medication to help her succeed in school. She has a pretty good network of support including a neurologist, therapist, a great teacher this year, and of course her family and friends. I'm in the process of figuring out what to do for fifth grade. Should she attend private school or public school? Philadelphia public schools in general are pretty crappy. I mean, I don't know how else to say it. Private school is expensive, so I'd love to find a good public school. If anyone out there knows of one, please respond.
